Figure/Ground – the fundamental principle of perception that allows us to read imagery

Overlapping letterforms create interesting negative and positive relationships


Similarity – the degree of sameness to each other

similarity in size, tracking, and color connect the words into a unified idea


Continuance – grouping that results in a continuation of direction
